These Holiday Gifts Will Keep You Warm-image

Even though it still might be considered too early to go holiday shopping, we want you to keep these gift suggestions in mind for when the time comes to hit the stores. Take a moment to look at the following gifts, each which will keep you warm during these cold winter months. Heated Socks We know that $40 for a pair of socks is a lot of money, but these sound like they’re worth every penny. “The ActionHeat™ battery heated socks are the perfect blend of quality and comfort.  ActionHeat™ battery heated apparel utilizes innovative technology designed to warm the core body temperature.  These revolutionary garments feature built-in heating panels and are made with ActionFlex™ material that provides lightweight warmth, comfort and versatility.” Heated Computer Mouse “This item is designed as a hand warmer with computer mouse capabilities with low tracking and acceleration speeds. It is a novelty-priced item not to be compared with a high-priced computer mouse used for highly sensitive software engineering, drafting and design. Tested by our office staff, the heated mouse is for the average computer user.” The Pajamas Warming Pouch “This is the heated pouch that warms pajamas for cozy comfort. The pouch has integrated heating elements that reach 118º F and a thermal satin interior that retains heat, resulting in toasty warm pajamas in 10 minutes. The heating elements automatically maintain the temperature regardless of what's inside and the unit only draws 50 watts-less than most light bulbs. The 19" x 15 1/2" pouch also accommodates towels, hats, or gloves and it folds to half its size for convenient storage or travel. With a plush fleece exterior.” Bluetooth Beanie “It’s a hat with an integrated headset. It is functional, stylish and interesting. The idea is straightforward: it is often uncomfortable to use your smart phone in the cold or in a snowstorm, considering that you will have to remove your hand from a warm glove to experience a wide range of sensations. A hat with built-in speakers, a microphone and a pair of handy control buttons will solve the problem of frostbitten fingers once and for all.” Did you see something you like? We hope so. At Arrive South Loop, we hope that our residents have a wonderful holiday season. If you’re traveling away from your apartment during this month or next, travel safely. Most of all, stay warm in or out of Chicago, IL this winter.

Riddle Me Reddit-image

Even though riddles can be hard to solve, working through them is a great way to keep your mind sharp, stay focused, and become better at problem-solving. In today’s post, the Arrive South Loop Blog has a few puzzles for you to solve. Enjoy sitting back in your apartment in Chicago, IL as you try to solve some of these clever riddles. At the bottom of the post, we’ll have the answers — so try to refrain from looking too soon! These riddles come from Reddit : Walk on the living, they don’t even mumble. Walk on the dead, they mutter and grumble. What are they? One morning a man is leaving on a business trip and finds he left some paperwork at his office. He runs into his office to get it and the night watchman stops him and says 'Sir don't get on the plane. I had a dream last night that the plane would crash and everyone would die!' The man takes his word and cancels his trip. Sure enough, the plane crashes and everyone dies. The next morning the man gives the watchman a $1000 reward for saving his life and then fires him. Why did he fire the watchman that saved his life? Forward it’s heavy, backward it’s not. The man who invented it doesn't want it for himself. The man who buys it doesn't buy it for himself. The man who needs it doesn't know he needs it. What is it? A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose among three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven’t eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him? Answers: Leaves The watchman was sleeping on the job. Ton A coffin Lions. They are all dead.

Take time to enhance your morning dining experience with the delicious recipes featured in this month’s blog post. Breakfast just got better in Chicago, IL, and it begins at your Arrive South Loop apartment! Easy Cronuts Recipe from Baking Beauty Cronuts are basically a lighter, fluffier version of your basic donut. Make these cronuts for a lazy breakfast on a Sunday morning. These cronuts can be made with refrigerated Pillsbury Uncut Crescent Sheets, vanilla pudding, powdered sugar, vanilla, milk, and vegetable oil. Egg & Cheese Hash Brown Waffles from Yellow Bliss Road Switch up your regular waffle recipe and make this savory dish instead. Egg and cheese hash brown waffles are a delicious and unique treat. Make them with shredded potatoes, eggs, milk, sharp cheddar cheese, fresh chopped chives, salt, pepper, and sour cream. Cinnabons Cinnamon Rolls from Jo Cooks   Save yourself a trip to your local Cinnabon or bakery and make your cinnamon rolls at home, instead. This recipe teaches you how to make the dough, the filling, and the cream cheese icing. You can make the cream cheese icing with butter (or margarine), powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and a little bit of salt. German Oven Pancake from The Recipe Critic German oven pancakes are light, fluffy and delicious (and a lot easier and quicker to make than a “regular” batch of pancakes). This simple recipe requires flour, eggs, milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt to make. Top it all off with drizzled chocolate, whipped cream, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and buttery syrup. Very Berry Baked Oatmeal from Diethood This very berry baked oatmeal is the opposite of boring. Head to your local farmer’s market for the mixed berries needed to make this treat. Sweeten it up with honey, vanilla, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. You’ll love this sweet, easy breakfast. What’s your favorite breakfast recipe? Board Game of the Summer Pandemic Legacy-image

Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 is an exciting board game where players work together to avert global disaster. Like its predecessor, Pandemic , players take turns curing and eradicating diseases before the world turns to chaos. Yes, we loved playing the original game. What Pandemic Legacy offers, however, is a continuing story that evolves each time the game is played. Keep reading to find out how Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 gets better with each play and why it is our board game recommendation for your summer gaming. Take game nights in your Arrive South Loop apartment to the next level with a game that can only be played through once. That’s right. Once it’s played, you can’t play it again. Why on Earth would you buy a game that can’t be played through more than once? The reason is exactly why we love it so much! Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 begins as a simple “defeat the virus” sort of game, but that’s about to change. Pandemic Legacy takes place over the period of a year — the first game takes place in January, the second February...so on until you reach December. Each month can be played twice (so if you lost the first game of January, you get to play it again. Then, despite winning or losing the second time, you move on to the next month). Technically, you’ll play individual games of Pandemic Legacy up to 24 times (that’s two games for each month of the campaign), but you’ll only play through the entire game once. This is because each game you play — the choices you make and things that happen — bring about consequences for the following games. Before you know it you’ll be ripping up cards, placing stickers on the game board, and doing other things that ultimately transform future games. There’s also a rich narrative as you play from month to month, so once you’ve beaten the game you know exactly what happened and it won’t be as fun if you purchase a new copy and play a second time through. Good thing there’s a Season 2 to look forward to playing once you’re done. Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 offers a rich gaming experience for people who host regular game nights. Once you and your group of friends commit to playing this game, you’ll want to plan to play each following game together on a regular basis until it’s done. It’s a game about working together and saving humanity. Full of epic twists and gameplay that actually evolves, this is one you’ll want to check out the next time you’re hosting a game night in Chicago, IL.
